Pet Star of the Week – Tucker

It has been a busy week for pet portraits; especially with the little mini slates.  These are rapidly shrinking in size, as people want things they can wear as pendants that don’t feel like they would drag you to the bottom should you roll your kayak or jump in the pool.  I am doing some that are under 3 inches square.

With these commissions come wonderful stories of dogs and cats that have been longtime companions, and horses who have been even longer.  Most recently though, comes a new addition, a most exciting Palomino Morgan named Tucker.  So he will be my Pet Star of the Week.

The photo is a bit washed out, but it shows the gold and white horse on a piece of slate that is almost black.  Tucker is coming to live with his family next month.  My friend Julana is getting him for her 11 year old daughter.  The most special thing about this new acquisition is that Julana recently acquired Tucker’s sire.  He is a golden retired stud named Tomoro, now gelded and enjoying life with his new doting and very enthusiastic owner.  His offspring, Tucker, is the same age as Julana’s daughter.  I am picturing mother and daughter riding together on their matching father and son Morgans.

That Clifford has a small part in this is so heart warming for me.  Julana said she started following our adventures some time ago, and now she has a Morgan of her own.  She plans to do Western Dressage with Tomoro.

So here’s to Tucker, and Tomoro, and here’s to a couple of Morgans settling into the forever home that every horse could wish for.  Happy trails, guys.

And thanks once again to my little orange horse, the breed ambassador.  Well done.

About Nancy J. Bailey

Artist, author, bad karaoke singer. Woodsy ragamuffin. Mom of a horse named Clifford who plays fetch and paints with watercolors. He visits libraries and schools with me, to promote literacy and making the world a better place. Yes, he is house trained, no, he doesn't live in my house! I have written three books about Clifford. But my newest book, THE NORTH SIDE OF DOWN, is co-written by my awesome sister Amanda, who has Down syndrome. Her unexpected one-liner wisecracks can always make me laugh. If you make me laugh, you've made my day!
