Today’s Project – Brown Pelican

Feeling pretty sad today about the situation in the Gulf — so I drew this pelican as a sort of prayer for the birds and other wildlife. This is about 11×15″, oil pencil, called, “To Blue Water”.

About Nancy J. Bailey

Artist, author, bad karaoke singer. Woodsy ragamuffin. Mom of a horse named Clifford who plays fetch and paints with watercolors. He visits libraries and schools with me, to promote literacy and making the world a better place. Yes, he is house trained, no, he doesn't live in my house! I have written three books about Clifford. But my newest book, THE NORTH SIDE OF DOWN, is co-written by my awesome sister Amanda, who has Down syndrome. Her unexpected one-liner wisecracks can always make me laugh. If you make me laugh, you've made my day!

  3. Your picture is incredible! You are very talented.

The oil in the Gulf is certainly a disaster that will be affecting us for many years to come. Wish they could hurry the clean-up along somehow.

Yes, it is a disaster, for sure. It just causes one to wonder in terms of that old cliche' — we can put a man on the moon, but…..?

  5. it was a huge disaster but im glad you cared enough to dedicate one of your wonderful paintings to it. I know you don't know me but I love your blog. I'm a 13 yr old horse enthusiast and think clifard is just darling. As are your wonderful paintings. I can't even draw a straight line but I love art and know it when I see it. You have talent when drawing or painting animals. You continue to inspire me on your blog. I cant get enough of it! Thanks and happy blogging!
